The Henry County Board of Commissioners traveled to several venues to tour facilities beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2008, in the Community Room, County Administration Building, 140 Henry Parkway, McDonough, Georgia. Notice of this meeting was posted in the entrance foyer of the County Administration Building. The Daily Herald was notified of this meeting. Those present were:

Randy Stamey, Vice-Chairman, District III Commissioner

Johnny B. Basler, District V Commissioner

Those absent were:

Reid A. Bowman, District IV Commissioner

Also attending were Shay Mathis, County Clerk; Rob Magnaghi, County Manager; Phyllis Shrader, Deputy County Manager; Mike Bush, Finance Director; and others.

Chairman Harper called the meeting to order and called for acceptance of the agenda. Commissioner Stamey made the motion to accept the agenda; Commissioner Holder seconded. The motion carried unanimously.

In the SPLOST III program that was approved by voters in November, 2007, one of the capital projects is a Performing Arts Center. The Board visited several performing arts centers to get an idea of what is needed and would be suitable for Henry County. Four facilities were visited, including the South Fulton Arts Center, Roswell Arts Center, Gwinnett Performing Arts Center and the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville. Information gathered on the tour will be applied toward ideas for the design of a Performing Arts Center for Henry County.

The Board reconvened at 5:15 p.m. Commissioner Mathis made the motion to adjourn; Commissioner Basler seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
