COUNTY OF HENRY

 

          The Henry County Board of Commissioners held a joint meeting with the Henry County Library Board of Trustees at 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Henry County Administration Building, 140 Henry Parkway, McDonough, Georgia.  Notice of this meeting was posted in the foyer of the Henry County Administration Building.  The Daily Herald was notified of this meeting.  Those present were:

          Henry County Library Board of Trustees

          Chairman Harper called the meeting to order and called for an acceptance of the agenda.  Commissioner Mathis made the motion to approve the agenda; Commissioner Basler seconded.  The motion carried unanimously.

          Dr. Gordon Baker, Chairman of the Library Board of Trustees, presented an informative slide presentation regarding the history of the library system in Henry County and how they function.  The Library Board petitioned the Board of Commissioners to increase the funding category for salaries by $300,000.00 in the 2008-2009 budget year.  This would allow for a salary increase for the employees of the Library System.  Beginning with the 2009-2010 budget year, the budget for the Library System should be able to fund the increased salaries.

          The Board of Commissioners stated they would consider the request and Mr. Rob Magnaghi, County Manager stated that staff would meet with the Library Board representatives to discuss the matter and will give the Board of Commissioners an update at the February 18, 2008 meeting.

          Commissioner Mathis made the motion to adjourn; Commissioner Bowman seconded.  The motion carried unanimously.
